At jetCenters of Colorado, we’re proud to celebrate a major milestone—Centennial Airport has officially marked two years as Colorado’s first and only airport offering unleaded aviation fuel for piston aircraft.
In partnership with Arapahoe County Public Airport Authority and through support from state-backed initiatives, this pioneering effort began in 2023 with the introduction of Swift UL94. This FAA-approved unleaded fuel alternative provides a cleaner-burning solution that meets or exceeds 100LL performance standards—without the harmful environmental impact of lead.
Making Cleaner Flying Possible
As one of the first FBOs in Colorado to offer UL94 at our Centennial location, jetCenters of Colorado is committed to creating a more sustainable future for general aviation. Thanks to a coordinated effort with the Colorado Aeronautical Board and the FAA’s EAGLE program (Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions), Centennial Airport has reimbursed over 150 Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) applications to date, reducing financial barriers for pilots interested in transitioning to unleaded fuel.
The airport also offers:
- An STC Reimbursement Program, covering up to $110 per aircraft for FAA-approved fuel certifications
- A fuel subsidy program to help offset the cost difference between UL94 and traditional 100LL
Fueling a Sustainable Future
As environmental responsibility becomes an increasingly important focus in aviation, the demand for lower-emission solutions continues to grow. By offering Swift UL94, Centennial Airport and jetCenters of Colorado are actively responding to that call. In fact, over 20% of all piston aircraft fuel sold at Centennial is now unleaded—a figure we expect to climb as adoption increases.
This leadership hasn’t gone unnoticed. Centennial’s efforts were recently bolstered by over $650,000 in Colorado state funding across multiple fiscal years, ensuring continued momentum in unleaded fuel adoption and infrastructure support.
Why UL94 Matters
Swift UL94 unleaded aviation fuel is not just a sustainable choice—it’s a smart one. It provides the same performance as 100LL for approved engines and airframes, without the lead-related drawbacks. For pilots, flight schools, and aviation businesses looking to align with environmental goals, UL94 is a practical next step.
The jetCenters of Colorado team is honored to help lead this statewide transition and invite pilots flying into Centennial Airport to learn more about switching to unleaded fuel.
